Welcome to the HOME TEAM. Skinny Joey’s Cheesesteaks opened its doors on March 29, 2025, just weeks after the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl — and Philly showed up in full force. The line wrapped around the block, the energy was electric, and South Broad hasn’t been the same since.
Located right near Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, Wells Fargo Center, and Subaru Park, we’re now the go-to cheesesteak destination for fans of the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, Flyers, and Union.
Joey Merlino believed the world needed a VOICE — someone to stand up for those who couldn’t. He risked everything in courtrooms, facing the Justice Department head-on, and beat them at their own game time and time again. He stood when most folded. He stayed loyal when others switched sides. Joey believes in strength, loyalty, and standing on principle — no matter the cost. Skinny Joey (a nickname the media gave him) loves America and proudly supports President Trump, hoping real change and justice will come for the people who have been wronged by the system.

Before Skinny Joey’s, 3020 S Broad Street was home to Ace’s Steaks and Talk of the Town — both tried, and both failed. But now, it’s Skinny Joey’s time to shine. Skinny Joey’s Cheesesteaks made Philadelphia history with the biggest Grand Opening the city has ever seen — over 10,000 people showed up from morning to night on March 29th, 2025.
Founded by Joseph Merlino and Joe “Lil Snuff” Perri, Skinny Joey’s isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a movement built on loyalty, hustle, and South Philly pride. Joe Perri is a well-known figure in the South Philly community, recognized for supporting local businesses through advertising, commercials, and hands-on promotion. Together, he and Joey grew up on cheesesteaks — it’s in their blood. That’s why every sandwich we serve is made with nothing but the best ingredients, including the legendary Aversa rolls.
Skinny Joey’s has lived up to the hype — with countless celebrities and pro athletes pulling up to show love. The shop is quickly becoming a Philly staple and is on track to become a national name. We’re building something real, with plans to franchise across the country and bring true South Philly flavor to cities coast to coast.
